Murray joins amid rapid expansion for the brand, which launched in 2010 and plans to have 200 branches nationwide by 2020.

Responsible for driving campaigns that increase awareness of Metro Bank’s customer-centric brand, through business and consumer-specific activities, she will also establish the Metro Bank press office.

Her work will be supported by Lansons Communications, the incumbent retained PR agency, for whom she worked previously with the bank as an account director.

Craig Donaldson, CEO of Metro Bank, said: ‘Now is the right time to build our internal PR capabilities. We’re looking forward to having Beth leading our comms charge and growing media momentum to fuel this expansion.'

The first bank to be granted a licence in more than a century, Metro Bank now has 11 branches and aims to have 45, and to break even, by the middle of 2014.

Murray joined Lansons as an account manager in March 2010 and previously worked at the Wriglesworth Consultancy and Hudson Sandler. She joins on 2 May and will initially report to Donaldson.
